Ingredients
  1. 1/2 cup Sue BeeĀ® Honey
  2. 1 2/3 cups milk
  3. 6-7 cups whole wheat flour
  4. 1/2 cup flaxseed meal
  5. 2 pkgs. Yeast
  6. 1 cup water
  7. 1/4 cup butter
  8. 1 cup bran
  9. 1 tbsp. salt
  10. 1 tbsp. butter
Instructions
  1. In saucepan heat milk until bubbles form around the edge of pan; remove from heat.
  2. Add Sue Bee Honey, salt and 1/4 cup butter; stir until butter melts.
  3. Cool to lukewarm and add bran.
  4. Sprinkle yeast over warm water in large bowl.
  5. Stir yeast to dissolve.
  6. Stir in cooled milk mixture.
  7. Add 4 cups flour.
  8. Beat with a spoon until smooth.
  9. Gradually add the rest of the flour.
  10. Turn out and knead dough for 5-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  11. Place in lightly greased bowl; cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  12. Punch dough down lightly and turn out onto floured board.
  13. Halve into 2 balls.
  14. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  15. Cut each of the halves in two.
  16. With palms, roll each part into 12 inch strips.
  17. Twist two strips of dough together three times around; press each end together to seal.
  18. Place in two greased 9 x 5 x 2 inch loaf pans.
  19. Brush tops with melted butter.
  20. Let rise until sides reach tops of pans, about 1 hour.
  21. Preheat oven to 400.
  22. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
  23. Turn out of pans to cool.
  24. Makes 2 loaves.
